Tips for Safely Holding the Horse

Parsaye said in order to safely hold a horse for a vet or farrier, the person holding the horse should always be on the same side of the horse as the attending professional. This is because if the horse moves or spooks, it generally goes away from the handler or sometimes the vet/farrier.

The handler must let the vet or farrier know if the horse gets agitated during an exam or procedure.

Remember to never wrap the lead rope around hour hand.

If you have questions about safe handling of your horse for the vet or farrier, talk to that professional. They often have tips that can help all of you remain safe.
