Melody de Laat, BVSc (Hons), PhD, MANZCVS (Pharm), SFHEA GradCertAcadPracis, is a clinical and research veterinarian with more than 15 years’ experience researching equine endocrine diseases, pharmacology, and laminitis.

She is an associate professor at Queensland University of Technology in Queensland, Australia, where she combines research with teaching undergraduate and higher degree research students. She is deputy chair of the University Animal Ethics Committee and the Academic Lead for Diversity and Inclusion in Biology and Environmental Science. De Laat is also a scientific editor for The Veterinary Journal.

Her research interests encompass disorders of metabolism and nutrition, incretin biology, endocrine dysfunction, equine lameness, animal welfare, and veterinary pharmacology. De Laat is a member and past president of the Pharmacology chapter of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists and a member of the global Equine Endocrinology Group.
