Senior horses made a great showing at The Run For A Million. The Run For A Million is the richest event in the history of reining. It also includes exciting new events in cow horse and cutting. South Point Arena and Equestrian Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, hosted the event in August.
A total of 15 horses aged 15-22 competed. Senior horses are those 15 years of age and older.
Some of the most accomplished NRHA Professionals in the history of reining competed for a purse of $1 million in one class, according to the competition’s website. “In addition to the MILLION DOLLAR Competition, there is the Cow Horse Challenge, Cutting Horse Challenge, Youth Reining Challenge, Youth Working Cow Horse Challenge, Rookie Level 1 Challenge, Rookie Level 2 Challenge, Non Pro and Amateur Challenge, Open Shoot Out, Cowboy Heritage Ranch Challenge, and $150,000 Bareback Buck Out Invitational.”
Senior Wins Two Divisions
Chicsdundreamin (foaled in 2008) is a 16-year-old Quarter Horse gelding owned by Nancy Stillwell. He won the Rookie 1 and Rookie 2 divisions at The Run For A Million. Rookie 1 had 70 competitors and Rookie 2 had 91 competitors.
The gelding was ridden by Wyatt Deary. Wyatt turned 19 in July.

Other Top Senior Finishers
The 16-year-old stallion What A Wave (foaled in 2008) finished second in the Rookie 1 division. What A Wave was ridden by Keanu De Pauw and is owned by El Picadero LLC. The stallion won the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Open World championship in 2015.
15-year-old TRR Lucky Playgun (foaled in 2009) tied for third in the Youth Cow Horse Championship. TRR Lucky Playgun was ridden by Quincy Probst and is owned by owned by Redgie Probst.
